New Year’s Celebration
So Mommy and I decided to go out for the first time in years for New Year’s Eve. The daycare had a special arrangement where they watched the kids from 8pm to 8am as a sleep-over while the parents went out and partied like it was 1999. So we signed up and headed out for night out on the town (across the street to the country club lol). No literally, across the street that we could’ve walked home if it wasn’t so cold. We had a good time with an open bar and band for music while waiting for the ball to drop at midnight. It wasn’t one of our wildest nights, but the point was to reminisce over the past year and celebrate the oncoming new year in 2011.
And speaking of New Year transitions – Mateo had his crib turned into a toddler bed this past weekend as his next big-boy milestone. “They grow up so fast!” his mom said. He’ll be asking for the car keys in a month at this rate :)

Well this Christmas was easy as all Santa Claus had to bring was anything related to Toy Story and he would have been a hit. Even Wally-world (WalMart) had a whole aisle dedicated to the toys from the movie so we knew it was big. Mateo received a giant-size electronic Buzz Lightyear and hasn’t stopped playing with it since, so he’s very happy. Santa brought Mommy a tiny point&shoot Canon since she’s made it very clear that Daddy’s camera equipment has gotten too big for her to carry around. Daddy got some nice winter boots and some chones.. its the simplest things that bring the most joy :)
And Santa also seem to have dropped off another pet for us late last night as we found a little kitty hiding out in our garage that must of snuck in from the outside. Poor little thing was hiding under the tool bench and we don’t know who it belongs to, but we fed it and will take pictures for later to post up in the neighborhood as some family is probably missing their little tabby kitten this XMas morning :(
Thank you again to Tias, Tios and Grandparents for all the presents. Hope to see you all again soon. But without further adeiu – onto the video:

Christmas Eve
Shopping is done, Tree decorated, the ham is cooked (thank you Honeybaked!) and its time to celebrate what this season is all about.. Baby Jesus B-Day! We’d love to do midnight mass but we opted for the 7pm so Mateo would be awake after we had a very tasty Xmas eve dinner. Even though we can’t be with our family and friends this year, many wishes and blessings to you all as you are in our hearts this Christmas season. Now for dessert!
O’ Christmas Tree
So the tree is up (fake that is) and it is looking mighty good I must say. Please don’t hate on the fake tree – As much as I love a real one, this one took all of 10minutes to put up and light lol. So while my neighbor spent a few hours ringing up lights all over the outside of his house last week – we just opened our dining room curtain up and our tree = house lights :). And I don’t have to sing my annual X-Mas diddy:
O’ Christmas Tree, O’ Christmas Tree..
Why is it so hard to find the broken-bulb on thee??
This xmas should be a blast since Mateo is old enough talk and express himself and experience the traditions with us. He had fun putting up the tree ornaments and decorations. We’ll have to see how he does with learning about Santa Claus for the first time.

Another year and another chance to drive over to Grandma and Grandpa’s for some yummy Turkey dinner with a sprinkle of Dominican food. I know what everyone thinks “My mom makes the best tasting food” – Hold onto that thought and don’t ever visit our Grandma’s house because along with eating the best food eva, you’ll need to talk to your therapist afterwards for the undoubted dissapointment that will occur once you compare :)
Along with full tummies, we threw around some football while the little ones chased the chickens around the yard and generally just poked around, getting into trouble wherever they could. Never mind the cold, but we drove off to feed some deer at the park and then danced the night away making the most embarrassing moves ever to be witnessed while playing on the Wii.
The time went by fast and then Norma, Mateo and I headed back on the road for our 9 hour drive back to Columbus with a cooler full of platanos y salsichon to enjoy back home.
Tons of more pictures are posted as usual in the gallery here.
