Day 1 - Friday
by Joe
Off we go! Headed east across the interstate, traffic was very light but the cops (better known as the Po-Po) were heavy. We made good time trekking over the Cascades after taking one last picture on the outskirts of Seattle.
We crossed the Columbia River still in Washington and stopped to take some scenic shots when we saw a tow-truck pulling up from the side of the cliff, a old Ford Taurus station-wagon. How that accident happened, no one knows. But we did get some nice river shots besides the towing comotion
Next we crossed into Idaho and stopped right across the state line into Coeur d'Alene. A cute resort town that has expensive lunches and it was out 87degrees hot with the sun right on your back it felt like. Since we were in the panhandle of Idaho, crossing into Montana was pretty quick and not long into the ride we understood why it is called 'Big Sky' country. Amazing vistas.
We stopped at Flathead lake in the Indian reservation and arrived at our destination just outside of Glacier National Park around 7pm. The cottages were really cute and totally cozy. We plan on taking the 'Going to the Sun' road tomorrow and end up in Yellowstone sometime in the evening.

Saying Goodbye
by Joe
Thursday was our last full day in Seattle and we had lots to do with closing out the house, final cleaning, and fix-up jobs to get done. It was busy as usual but we made some special time to spend a little afternoon lunch picnic with Cristian to say our goodbyes. His identical brother laughed and played a bunch and we got to talking about how special Cristian was and always will be to us. It was a great and happy time.

Moving Day is Here!
by Joe
So finally the movers arrived for two days of non-stop packing, crating, boxing and wrapping everything in between to prepare our household goods for shipment. The week has been hectic with getting everthing ready for the baby, the trip, the dogs, the house, the cars, you name it and it doesn't help that Mommy is starting to get a cough and might be sick :(
We didn't realize just how much stuff we had until they almost overflowed the tractor trailer. I think we're gonna need a couple more garage sales once we get to Ohio because this stuff ain't coming back with us :). Mateo was behaving great until he had to go to the babysitter yesterday and he cried most the time since he missed his mommy and is starting to teeth. Poor babysitters were ready for Norma to pick him up at the end of the day.
So tomorrow we get the dogs ready for flying - yes they are lucky and get to fly to Ohio while we drive - lucky bitches I swear (female dogs of course)! Jetta and Josie will taken care of by the boarding company and get to play with other dogs while we schlepp our way east. So they'll have a good time no doubt. After that, we'll close out our house and get on the road first thing Friday morning.
oh btw - moving itself sucks - there has to be a better way to do it :). More pictures here in the Ohio Move page of our gallery.
Mother's Day at the Zoo :)
by Joe
So Mommy's first true Mother's Day was spent on a beautiful Seattle spring day afternoon at the Zoo. We were definitely not the only ones with the same idea so it was pretty crowded. But we had fun nonetheless and got see some cute animals before calling it a day. Mateo had a ball and was laughing and smiling at anyone who looked his way - I think he loves the attention just like his momma :)
There weren't very many animals as this was a small zoo - but we packed in as much we could for the few hours there. With our move to Columbus though we get to visit Jack Hanna's world famous Columbus Zoo so that will be a treat and maybe next time Mateo will be a little older to appreciate the animals.

She'll Be Comin 'Round the Mountain..
by Joe
So we've finalized our route for our upcoming move this summer and man it's a doozy. 6 Days of non-stop car songs, roadside snacks, gas station bathroom breaks, and of course, taking in everything this wonderful country has to offer through our northern-most states :)
Here's a picture of our cross-country caravan-extravanganza:
Places we'll see along the way:
- Glacier National Park
- Yellowstone National Park
- Grand Tetons
- Mt Rushmore
- Crazy Horse Memorial
- Deadwood
- Sioux Falls, SD
- Madison, WI
- Chicago
- Indianapolis
That's a total of 2,847 miles door to door! So with all those sights and all that driving - you can bet we'll be posting pictures on the blog all along the way. Let's hope for some good weather and good times!
7mo old + Toy Turtle = Bath Fun!
by Joe
Well, our little chunky monkey is packing on the baby weight but still looks cute all over. I caught his Momma giving him a bath with the video camera and, well, the rest is priceles..
I'm also working on improving my video editing skills, but it is much harder than it looks. The next one should be better. Be sure to click the HD version!
Easter Visit from Sunny So Cal...
by norma
Alicia and Keith came to visit us this weekend from So. Cal. The weather cooperated on Saurday for our quick tour of Seattle and for the Seattle Sounders game they came to see that evening. Unfortunately, Saturday was the only day without rain! Sunday and Monday were very, very wet.. but then it wouldn't be Spring in Seattle if it didn't rain. We took a ferry ride to Kingston and went to Pikes Place Market (a must for visitors). We hope you visit again soon.. or better yet, maybe you'll be our future neighbors?
The rest of the pictures will be posted to the gallery soon..![]()
Tulip Festival = No Tulips??
by Joe
So we took a nice drive up to the Skagit Valley today to go see the world famous Washington Tulip Festival. There were supposed to be rows and rows of beautiful colored tulips that make Holland look like a small garden. After 2hours of cruisin, all we found were a small patch of dafodils. I guess the cold-snap for the past few weeks has made the tulips not wanna come out. Dafodils not = tulips.
But we got a couple of nice pictures anyway.
Mateo Visits his Tia's
by Joe
Mommy and Mateo took the weekend trip down to Los Angeles to visit family and friends. I personally think Mateo wanted to show off his cute baby cheeks so everyone could pinch them. For a baby that loves attention and Aunts that love to give him lots of it - You can imagine he was in baby heaven for those three days :)
The funniest thing is that everyone from Mommy's family says he looks like Dad and everyone from Dad's family say he looks like Mommy when they see him. I should post our baby pictures and put it to a vote to see what other's think. But back on topic - both Mommy and Mateo had a great time and miss everyone a whole bunch. We can't wait to visit again!

Family Sedans Rock!
by Joe
So I picked up a new hobby last year. Mommy thought it would be something cute like badminton, golf, mountain biking, competitive chess, or stamp collecting - no no, it had to be drag racing. Well not exactly like professional drag racing, just taking the family sedan out to the local drag strip every once in a while to humilate all those middle-aged men in supposed sports cars to kick some butt and do it with an empty baby seat in the back.
Just doing it once, I can see how the need for speed is definitely addicting. I did feel bad a guy with a brand new Dodge SRT8 Challenger loss to the family car. Same with the new Pontiac GTO, various Mustangs and other sports cars. To be fair, I wasn't really driving a mini-van but to say they didn't see it coming would be an understatement. Corvette speed on the way to the supermarket never gets old :) Video of my weekend fun:
